Vimonto Deploy has AI features that read what went wrong and tell you, in plain language, what caused it and how to fix it. They explain failed deploys and tasks and write the fix, read your logs and traffic, look into monitoring alarms, advise on server sizes, say which vulnerable packages matter, write scripts, rules and incident updates from a description, summarise what a deploy changed, review a move from Forge or Ploi, answer questions about your servers in the search, and send a weekly review of your servers.
AI features are paid from AI credits. Every organization gets a number of credits each month with its plan, and can buy more. You find them under Settings → AI.

Every answer is written by an AI model, and says so. It can be wrong: check it before you act on it.
How do AI credits work? AI
Each organization gets a monthly allowance of AI credits with its plan:
| Plan | Credits per month |
|---|---|
| Free | 50 |
| Premium, and the Premium trial | 300 |
| Lifetime Premium from AppSumo | 100 |
An organization with lifetime Premium that also has a Premium subscription gets the Premium allowance.
Every AI answer costs a few credits, depending on how much it reads and writes. One credit is roughly a tenth of a US cent of what the AI model costs, so a short explanation costs a few credits and a long log a few more.
- The monthly credits are used first. They are renewed on the 1st of every month; what is left is not carried over.
- Bought credits are only used once the month's credits are gone. They never expire.
- A call is paid after it ran, at what it actually cost. A call can start as long as at least 2 credits are left, so the last one of the month may cost slightly more than what was left.
The AI settings page AI
Open Settings → AI. Every member can see the page.
- AI credits: one card with how many of this month's credits are left, out of the plan's allowance, and a bar that empties as they are used. Below it, Left this month, followed by plus 1,000 bought credits when the organization has bought credits (they are used once this month's are gone), and Renewed on with the date the monthly credits come back.
- This month: per feature (such as Explaining failed deploys or Questions in search) how many answers it gave and how many credits they cost. Translating explanations is the cost of translating an explanation or summary for a member who reads the app in another language.
- Extra credits: buy a pack, and the packs bought before.
- Automatic: the features that spend credits without anyone asking each time.
- Recent use: the last answers, with the feature, who asked (Automatic when nobody did), when, and the credits they cost.
The Billing page shows the same balance in its AI credits card, with a link to this page. See billing.
Buy extra credits
A pack holds 1,000 credits for €5 or $7, paid once.
- Open Settings → AI.
- Under Extra credits, click Buy 1,000 credits.
- Pay in Polar's secure checkout, which opens on top of the page.
The page then shows Thanks for your purchase. The credits are added as soon as Polar confirms the payment, usually within a minute; the page updates by itself. Polar, the merchant of record, makes an invoice as for Premium, and Vimonto Deploy never sees your card.
Only members who manage billing (owners and administrators) can buy credits. Others see Members who manage billing can buy them. A refunded pack shows Refunded, and the credits of it that are left are taken back.
Choose what AI does by itself AI
Under Automatic three switches decide what spends credits without someone asking:
- Explain failed deploys (on by default): when a deploy fails, AI reads the log and suggests a fix on the deploy page.
- Summarise deploys (off by default): after a successful deploy, AI writes what changed from its commits.
- Weekly server review (off by default): every Monday, members who manage servers get an email with what needs attention on your servers.
Owners and administrators can change them; the change is saved at once (AI settings saved). With a switch off, people with AI access can still ask for the same thing by hand on the page.
What happens when the credits run out?
When there are not enough credits left, nothing is sent to the AI model and nothing is charged. A button you click shows No AI credits left with the message Your organization has used its AI credits for this month. Buy extra credits under Settings → AI, or wait until the 1st of next month. Where something would have run by itself, the panel says Your organization has no AI credits left this month., with a link to Buy extra credits, and that week's server review is skipped.
Everything else keeps working: deploys, tasks, logs and monitoring do not depend on AI.
Write it for me: scripts and configuration from a description
Above four editors there is a Write it for me link:
- Recipes → New recipe or Edit recipe, above Script (see recipes);
- a site's Deployments → Deploy script (see deployments);
- a server's Scheduler → Schedule job, below Command (see scheduler);
- a site's Nginx (see Nginx).
- Click Write it for me.
- Under Describe what it should do, write in your own words what you need (at most 1,000 characters), for example "Install Fail2ban and block an IP address after five failed SSH logins".
- Click Write draft, or Cancel.
AI writes a draft into the editor, in place of what is there, and you see Draft written: check it before you save. Nothing is saved or run until you save it yourself, so read the draft first and change what you need.
- For the deploy script and the Nginx configuration, AI also sees the site's facts (framework, PHP version, directories) and what is in the editor now, with secrets taken out, so you can ask for a change to it.
- For a scheduled job it writes one command line.
- A recipe draft never sees your other recipes.
- You can write 20 drafts per hour. The link is shown to members who may use AI and change that editor.
Forms have a Write it for me link too, which fills in their fields instead of an editor: redirects, security rules (usernames only: passwords are never sent to AI or written by it) and incident updates on status pages. The draft is checked against the form's own rules before it is put in, and nothing is saved or posted until you do it yourself (Draft filled in: check it before you save). The 20 drafts per hour are shared between editors and forms.
Ask AI in the search AI
The Search… field in the top bar (⌘K or Ctrl K) can answer questions about your servers and sites. Inside an organization, type at least 3 characters: the results get an Ask AI section with Ask AI: “…” and your question (Answered from your servers and sites). It comes first when your text ends with a question mark or has four or more words, and last otherwise.
Press Enter on it, click it, or press Tab (⇥ ask AI) to ask, for example "Which sites still run PHP 8.1?" or "Why did the last deploy of shop.example.com fail?". The search shows Looking at your servers and sites… and then the answer, with links to the pages it mentions. Back to results returns to the results.
- AI can only read: servers, sites, deployments, tasks, databases, backups and recipes. It never changes anything.
- It only sees what you can see in the organization: a member limited by teams gets answers about their servers only.
- Each answer costs a few credits (Questions in search). You can ask 20 questions a minute.
- It is not offered to viewers, nor while a platform administrator is signed in as you.
Start an action from Ask AI AI
When your question asks for something to be done, such as "Deploy shop.example.com" or "Run the nightly backup of db-1", the assistant can propose it: Deploy :site for a site, or Run backup :name for a backup configuration. It only proposes what you are allowed to do yourself: deploys need the permission to manage sites, backups the permission to manage backups.
- Under the answer, Proposed actions lists each proposal as a button, with what it will do.
- Click the button. It asks Start this now?
- Click Confirm to start it, or Cancel.
Once it has started, you see Started: follow it on the activity page., which links to the task. AI never runs anything itself: only your click on Confirm does, and Vimonto Deploy checks your permissions, your access to the server and the target again at that moment. A proposal works once and expires after 10 minutes; after that, ask again. Actions can't be started while a platform administrator is signed in as you.
The weekly server review
With Weekly server review switched on, every Monday at 07:00 members who can manage servers get the email Your weekly server review. It shows the Organization, the Period, the number of Servers reviewed and the number of items under Needs attention, then a numbered list per server of what needs attention, each with High, Medium or Low and a Suggested next step, and an Open dashboard button. When nothing needs attention, the email says so.
The review is written from what Vimonto Deploy already knows about the last week, never from the servers themselves: CPU, memory and disk (average and peak, and whether disk use is growing), an agent that went silent or is outdated, a restart that is required, monitors in alarm, missed heartbeats, failed tasks and backups, how many SSH logins there were, failed deploys, failed uptime checks, certificates that expire within 21 days, and critical or high advisories from the dependency audit. IP addresses and secrets are not sent.
- Each person gets it in their own language.
- A member limited by teams only gets the items about servers they can see, without the summary of the whole organization. Members who see no servers get no email.
- When the organization has no credits left, that week's review is skipped.
Who can use AI? AI
Owners, administrators, managers and developers can use the AI features, which spend the organization's credits. Viewers see explanations and summaries that are already there, but can't ask for new ones. See members and roles.
Some features also need the permission of the page: Diagnose with AI and Advise with AI need the permission to manage servers; Write the fix, Review with AI on dependencies, Analyse traffic with AI and the redirect and security rule drafts the permission to manage sites; incident updates the permission to manage status pages; the review and summary of a move the permission to create servers; and Write it for me in an editor the permission to change that editor. Buying credits needs the permission to manage billing, and the Automatic switches the permission to change the organization's settings.
While a platform administrator is signed in as you (for support), AI features can't be used: they spend your organization's credits. Answers that are already there stay visible.
What is sent to the AI model? AI
Only what a feature needs to answer: the end of a log or a task's output, the error, the deploy script, commit messages, and facts such as the framework, PHP version and Ubuntu version. Each feature's section says exactly what it sends.
- Before anything leaves Vimonto Deploy, secrets are taken out: the values of your
.env, the server's passwords and keys, deploy keys and tokens, Composer and npm credentials, and anything that looks like a password, token or key are replaced by[redacted]. - Your
.envfile is never sent. - AI is optional. The features only appear once the platform administrator has set up the platform's AI integration; until then Settings → AI says AI is not available yet, and nothing is sent anywhere.
- Translations in support and answers from the docs use no credits.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need Premium to use AI? AI
No. Every plan gets AI credits every month: 50 on Free, 300 on Premium. You can buy extra credits on any plan.
How many answers do I get from my credits?
It depends on how much each answer reads and writes. A typical explanation of a failed deploy or a short draft costs a few credits; a long log costs more. This month on the AI page shows how many answers each feature gave and what they cost.
Do unused credits carry over to next month?
The monthly credits don't: they are renewed on the 1st. Bought credits never expire and stay until they are used.
Can I switch AI off? AI
You can switch off everything that runs by itself under Automatic. The other features only run when someone clicks them, and a role without AI access (viewer) can't start them.
Does AI ever change my servers? AI
No. AI only reads and suggests. Drafts are put in the editor or form and only saved when you save them, the alarm diagnosis runs read-only checks, and an action proposed in the search only starts when you click Confirm yourself.
